When should I buy a polyester American flag instead of a nylon American flag?

If you live in an area with high wind conditions much of the time, then you will most likely want to purchase our polyester American Flag. Both the nylon and polyester flags are high quality and crafted to be flown outdoors, but our polyester flag is designed to be able to handle frequent high winds, increasing flag life. It does take more wind to fly our polyester flag, so if you do not live in an area that gets high winds much of the time, then our high quality nylon embroidered American Flag will work well for you.

What is a polyester American flag made of and what makes it last longer in high winds?

The Star Spangled Flags polyester American flag is crafted using 2-ply 100% polyester bunting. It is constructed with an open weave which helps the flag to dry fast, and reduce wind resistance, therefore increasing flag life. Our polyester material is extremely durable and ideal for those high wind areas. We use reinforced hem stitching on the top and bottom of the fly end, and 4 rows of stitching on the entire fly end.

    I must have ordered 7 American flags from 7 different companies. All made in America, (although I think 1 was lying) and none can make it more than 1 year in Florida's brutal sun and storms. Now, I have to admit, they were all polyester, and this one claims that nylon will hold up better. We shall see. Ol' Glory arrived quickly and in great packaging. If I get more than one year without fading, or the quadruple seam stitching ripping, that will a great testimony to this company's flags. Stay tuned.

    This IS the best flag I’ve purchased and there have been many. This flag will fly year around - night and day in the hot California sun. It will be on a flagpole that is 35 ft in the air. Every other flag I’ve purchased has worn, faded, or frayed in less than 6 months. Before I chose this flag, I did some research to find which fabric holds up the best to the conditions in our area. The unanimous answer was 2 ply polyester, with 4 stitching rows on the fly end, and reinforced brass grommets. This flag met all those specifications with one more added in bonus - a one year warranty. The picture with this review is on day one of raising it up the flagpole. I feel confident that the fabric and stitching will last far better than any other flag I’ve purchased.

    The flag arrived quite fast. My other flag had gotten ratty and it was nylon so it flapped a lot and made a snapping sound that drove my husband crazy. So I decided to get a polyester flag that wasn't supposed to do that. They were right it's still beautiful and bright but it doesn't move in a breeze. I live on a lake so we get some impressive winds some times. This flag moves in a lovely manner but doesn't snap. Its great on my new flag pole too.

    The buying experience was basically flawless. The flag itself is quite a workhorse for the sea shore here in NJ. I replaced this flag about 8 months ago, which is about average. However, the wear is remarkably good util the final tropical storm.

    Seem well made. The only concern is the lack of extra stitching on the end. What I previously used from a competitor had 5 or 6 lines of stitching there. I’m hoping that this will not be a factor in endurance. Our average wind speed is 15-20 mph. Anyway, thanks for the affordable products.

    We had replaced several flags since we’ve been here about 2 years ago we started flying the flags, the wind has been terribly strong here upwards 25 gusting to 35-40 mph sometimes so hopefully this flag will be able to withstand these winds
