Massachusetts state flag
The Massachusetts flag, adopted in 1971, consists of a white field with a blue shield displayed in the center. On this shield is a gold-colored native Algonquian Indian holding a bow and arrow pointing towards the ground signifying peace. There is also a large, white star to the upper left of the Indian. This is meant to symbolize the state’s recognition of the United States as a nation.
All of our flags at Star Spangled Flags are 100% made in the USA from start to finish! We use a tough, nylon fabric to hold up outdoors, extra stitching on the fly end of the flag, and a special UV coating to prevent fading from the sun.
Massachusetts flag, Made in USA
Massachusetts is the third most populated and seventh smallest states in the country. It’s nicknamed as “The Bay State” due to its location and proximity to a number of large bays. But it’s also known as the “The Codfish State,” and “The Old Colony State,” which pertains to the Plymouth colony.
Massachusetts is bordered by New York to its west, Connecticut and Rhode Island to its south, New Hampshire and Vermont to its north, and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. Because Bay Staters (official name for Massachusetts residents) are creative when it comes to food the state is known for Ocean Spray cranberry juice, corn muffin, quahogs, Boston baked beans and of course Boston cream pie. Creativity and sweet tooth combined really shines in Boston food.
But they are also known for controversial regulations and other things like the Salem Witch Trials, mourners are only allowed to eat three sandwiches at a wake, it is considered illegal to bathe unless given a prescription from the doctor and all men are required to carry a rifle to church on a Sunday. These regulations are still on the books because Massachusetts is one of the original 13 colonies and their laws date back hundred of years and some outdated laws remain on its books.
